Please embed images only when needed and intrinsic to the topic and post because they are starting to get slightly annoying to people.

Anyone know if there is a way in phpbb to resize the images to about half the size they are now?

I'm not sure about resizing, but I think there's a thumbnail extension that will replace the full size image.

If you use imgur as the hosting site, it actually creates three sizes for each image

if you add an "m" or an "s" at the end the medium and small version is returned

NOTE only imgur does this and it needs someone to remember to append "m" or "s"

not only images but also videos like youtube. can't we downgrade to just post a link?

There is actually thumbnail settings in the Admin control panel. I set it to 400px. That may be too large. Lets see

I may do youtube later, it's a lot less annoying and seems to be the default youtube embed size of 480 or something

One thing to keep in mind with embedding third-party images is that they can be used for tracking users. Extra fun with private messages.

Some forums do proxying to prevent this.
