Why are you here, on the OTW 2.0?

Post by RoGeorge »

So..., why are you here?
(not why are you here on Earth, but why are you here on OTW 2.0, please :D )

Serious question, why are you here and what makes you stick around?

Because one mod and one dev find me disgusting on f.g.o. It's an exile. I will not step there again.

Friends.

I like (political) discussions with many different opinions (and I try to learn english from some native speakers).

fgo is all about stifling debate and approved speech now. You either go along with a certain cabal of devs and the Council they abuse, or else they will harass you into submission. It has become hard to have legitimate discussion regarding their favorite pet projects, like systemd, and the fallout it has created (like breaking openrc to make it crippled like systemd).

I find the OTW gang much more receptive to discussion and even debate and, here, I even find some political topics worthy of talking about (a lot of political topics I ignore because people aren't actually open to debate, they just want to echo what their favorite pundit(s) says, which is why find things like Poettering's very debunked talking points to be boring).

I frequented fgo because of the nice conversations. Same for otw 2.0.

It's good to see the same (virtual) faces over the years and this is my only bit of social interaction (apart from a Saturday night with a glass or two watching the world march past, accompanied by a book. Chinese flu took care of that).

Like Winne-the-Phoo, who lived deep in 100 acre wood under the name of Saunders.

(I have no idea why that sprung to mind)
