Russian ISS Module Nauka

Post by Menelmacar »

Russia’s long delayed Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM) Nauka started suffering from malfunctions shortly after separation from the booster. Then after docking with ISS. Now there seems to be an air leak in the Russian section of ISS. I'm too lazy to list all the malfunctions..... needless to say, perhaps the Russians should have delayed the launch another couple of decades! For a better explanation:

so the question is, who did they steal the design from or is all this home grown

Barely managed to do it in 20 years... almost steering ISS off course, it just shows the real capabilities of Russia without the Soviet Union might. Unfortunately it's all down hill from here. half of young with good engineering degree are leaving, the rest are just useless eaters, pensioners or 'web designers', not to mention the looming doom of low fertility rates. And like in Venezuela or Ukraine no one is holding you from immigration, this keeps the regime in place, as the most active chose to immigrate rather than to fight or change anything.

It looks like Russia and China might start collaborating for LEO and Lunar operations. The Chinese will carry the water for Russia.

It's just propaganda, we have 'Moon base' talks in official government media for decades.

If Khruschev had more than 4 classes of education maybe he would instead tried to shape China into USSR's factory with cheap labor, basically exactly like Americans did, but with 0 tensions or disputes in regards to ideology or human rights. Instead this idiot decided to have a spat with Mao over Stalin's death, so foolish and completely unnecessary. China showed their teeth by attacking USSR(a nuclear superpower) in 1969, Americans were impressed and decided to boost China against the USSR, China and US had honeymoon period, USSR fell, The US largely de-industrialized itself, China is victorious, both against Russia and against the US. The End.

It is a mystery why it happened that two communist camps clashed in a duel without "a help" from outside. Economical and political voluntarism?
My opinion ^_^ may differ from yours. That's OK. Difference makes us humans, not robots.

It seems NASA downplayed the seriousness of the Nauka module malfunction after docking with ISS. The station swung far more than the 45 degrees first reported and the module's thrusters were causing Nauka to try to back away from the docking mechanism. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the air leak in the Russian section.
the station "spun one-and-a-half revolutions — about 540 degrees — before coming to a stop upside down. The space station then did a 180-degree forward flip to get back to its original orientation,"

This incident reminds me of The Big Ride in Seveneves. For those who haven’t read it, I won’t say more to avoid spoilers.
